Data strips are label holders that allow you to display information about products you are selling. The plastic strips adhere to your shelf using a strong adhesive. Paper labels can easily slide into the ticket channels. These contain product information such barcode, colour and price. It is one of the most cost effective ways to achieve a clean, organised display. Data stripping is ideal for communicating promotions and sales to your customers.

We commonly see these strips used with our gondola shelving.

Data Strips: Why Choose Ours?

Our shelf stripping is among the best on the market. To ensure long term use, only the highest quality adhesive is used. Our supplier has completed extensive research to ensure we have the best peel strength and the best shear strength. Included in this research was the affect of plasticiser migration. This is when the polymer molecules in the plastic migrate into the adhesive. If this happens, it can affect the long term holding capacity of the shelf strip. However our adhesive is resistant to plasticisers so a long term bond in maintained, even at elevated temperatures. This mean you can also use our data strips with our coolroom shelving.

Put simply, this means our shelf stripping has the best long term adhesive capability of any shelf price strips on the market today.

How do I apply the data strips to my shelf?

Retail data strips are simple to apply.

Preparation of the Surface

The most important step in the application process to ensure the surface is clean. We recommend the use of a clean rag and methylated spirits as the best cleaning agent to prepare the surface of your shelf. Even if you have purchased brand new shelving it is still important to clean it. There may be left over grease and grime from the manufacturing and shipping process. Please avoid any oil based cleaning agents as this will affect the long term performance of the adhesive.

Applying the Data Strip

Once the surface has been prepared, application is simple and quick. Gently peel the adhesive liner away from the strip, ensuring the exposed adhesive doesn’t comes into the contact with any other surfaces. Carefully attach the stripping to the shelf surface, then place a clean rag between your thumb and the data strip. Apply pressure and slide your thumb along it, at the top section where the adhesive is located.

Note that the bonding to the surface will increase over the first 72 hours, so ensure you treat the data strip gently during this time.
